Overview

The power station is one of several mini-hydroelectric power stations planned on the Achwa River in the Northern Region of Uganda. Achwa 3 is a run-of-the-river hydroelectricity project with an average flow of 65.5 cubic metres (2,310 cu ft) per second and a gross hydraulic head of about 12.5 metres (41 ft). Open bid tenders have been solicited from qualified engineering firms to carry out the civil and electromechanical installation and to "design, manufacture, install and commission turbines and other associated works of the project".
